Job Description:
Role Overview
The Journeyman Data Analyst supports U.S. Coast Guard programs by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to support operational reporting, performance measurement, and decision-making. This role works closely with government stakeholders and technical teams to transform data into clear insights through dashboards, reports, and analytical products. This is a remote role.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze structured and semi-structured data to support program reporting and operational insights
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into analytics solutions
- Clean, validate, and transform data from multiple sources
- Develop recurring and ad-hoc reports to support leadership and program needs
- Document data sources, assumptions, and analytical methodologies
- Support data quality, governance, and standardization efforts
- Assist with automation and optimization of reporting processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience performing data analysis in a professional environment
- Hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI
- Experience working with relational databases and data queries (e.g., SQL)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in a federal or enterprise environment
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DHS Public Trust
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting DHS or U.S. Coast Guard programs
- Experience with additional analytics or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, Power Query)
- Experience with data modeling and basic ETL processes
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms
